A Beautiful Summer
collaboration with Mohamed Almusibli • Milieu • 2019

The sound piece A Beautiful Summer refers to the birthplace of the artist Mohamed Almusibli: instruments of Yemeni folk music mix with synthetic sounds of Western traditions and thus accompany the artist’s text. A longer interlude follows, which on the one hand contrasts the oud melodies in an abstract way and on the other hand creates further references to the artist’s origins: audio recordings of a park, phrases from a lullaby from Yemen. The work subtly combines the personal compositional language with aspects of Arabic music.
