burn

Halle für Kunst Lüneburg / 2022

live audio performance • stereo • 57’30’’

Commissioned by the Swiss artist Nina Emge, burn ignites an exploration between sculpture and sound, performed in the context of her solo exhibition at Halle für Kunst Lüneburg.

Through sound the sculptures become alive, their form fluid and malleable, shifting with each activation and the unfolding narrative of the performance. The participant is invited on a journey to the liminal space between sound and silence, where the sculptures reveal the full spectrum of their auditory potential.  Through listening and embodying the sounds, burn creates an immersive experience that transcends the spatial boundaries of the exhibition space.

Nina Emge’s invitation to explore the sounds of her sculptures reveals the beauty of collaboration and the unexpected places from which it can spring. Ellie Goulding’s eponymous song “Burn” becomes the catalyst for this celebration of music’s power to unify and create a shared experience that surpasses individual boundaries. As the song proclaims, “it’s over now, we got the love, there’s no sleeping now,” we are reminded to embrace life’s fleeting nature and revel in its beauty while we can.
